git-crypt software package provides Transparent file encryption in git, you can install in your Debian 9 (Stretch) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install git-crypt
git-crypt is installed in your system.
Make ensure the git-crypt package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep git-crypt *
You will get with git-crypt package name, version, architecture and description in a table
